More Plans For "Suzie Strikes Back"
The team and I have some more detailed plans: We plan to make the robot about 12cm wide and 20cm long. We will be using computer duster to put the candle out. We will most likely be pulling the trigger with a motor instead of using an electrical valve. We will be using a fire detector (yes that's what it's called) to detect the flame. They say it can detect a lighter flame from about 5 feet away. There will be at least 4 sharp range finders, one on each side and possibly one extra on the sides. We'll be using an Atmel processor. The flame detector and a tube hooked up to the duster will be attached to at least one servo at candle height. We'll use aluminum for the bodywork. I'm hopping that me and Jonathon will be able to make the robot do smooth turning around corners instead of stopping and turning. Before we can really get going, we need to go shopping!

Plans For "Suzie Strikes Back"
Jonathon, Andrew, Kier and myself have already started the plans for this year's fire fighting competition at the WCRG (Western Canadian Robot Games), which takes place here in Calgary sometime in the spring every year. We will be making a full sized maze this year instead of a few corners to test turn. Suzie Strikes Back will not be made out of Lego this year. We will be either using a can of computer duster or the mechanism that squirts windshield washer fluid on the windshield with water. We plan to make Suzie Strikes Back either look like a modern day fire fighter or like some kind of futuristic fire fighter. We are pretty sure we are using 2-wheel drive and some kind of wheels in the front that will not affect where the robot is going. We plan to use either an OOPic or just a generic Pic to control the robot, depending on how much time we have. The rest we either haven't decided on or we haven't thought about.
